An orca with a floppy fin indicates that it doesn't have enough space to swim and has a repating swimming pattern. This is bad for an orca and if it keeps living like that, it might die ☹️

Orcas should never be treated poorly for our entertainment. For anyone who is curious, this is the status of the orca in the video. There are currently 60 orcas in captivity around the world.

“Tilikum, or Tilly, was a male captive orca who gained infamy as a killer whale responsible for the deaths of three humans, Keltie Byrne, Daniel Dukes, and Dawn Brancheau. Captured in waters off Iceland, Tilikum was sent to Sealand of the Pacific, a now defunct marine park near Victoria, Canada, where he was routinely bullied by his tankmates. After killing trainer Keltie Byrne, Tilikum would be transferred to SeaWorld Orlando, where he would ultimately kill two more people. After the death of Brancheau in 2010, Tilikum spent much of his time in isolation away from trainers and other whales. The largest male orca in captivity, Tilikum was easily identified by his collapsed dorsal fin. After a prolonged illness due to treatment-resistant bacterial infection, Tilikum died in January of 2017.” (Ric O’ Barry’s Dolphin Project)

It’s so sad to see such an incredible creature in such a small environment when compared to the ocean. However, these Orcas have been raised in captivity, so releasing them in the wild and expecting them to survive is highly risky, as surviving in the wild would be difficult for them.
