Any amount of ice on the airplane is going to increase weight and drag, and decrease lift (and thrust --- if the prop collects ice!). In this 5-minute Fly The Wing Flight Maneuver video, you'll see me shoot the LOC/DME approach at GIllespie Field (KSEE) in IMC that is right at or below freezing. I knew the airport was MVFR, and the cloud layer wasn't that thick, so I wasn't too concerned when I began picking up some ice, but if this happened on takeoff / climbout.... well, that would be a whole 'nother video, right...?
