I think Loch Derg was the island where back in time people went on pilgrimages. There was fasting and people stayed awake all night and prayed walking around the church in bare feet until the dawn. I had a relative who panned on going on the pilgrimage; I don’t think she ever did it but she did climb Croagh Patrick.
