This and Varsity Blues really paints a perfect picture of high school football. This movie on the high level competition of high school and the other on the party side both get me in my feelings.

If this game played out as it was portrayed the refs in this game were absolutely brutal towards Permian. Tons of missed calls against Carter for unsportsmanlike conduct amongst other things but in the end they hit Permian for a weak holding call? Carter would’ve needed to be checked for paying those refs off.

You had to love Boobie passing on his knowledge to Billingsly. He knew his time was done but the best he could do was give his replacement the only think he could. Knowledge and confidence.

I love how at the end of the game, Billingsley’s father gives his son his old State Championship ring… beautiful moment in the film where Don finally earns his father’s respect as a football player. A lot of kids stop playing the sport they love because they’re not as good as their fathers expect them to be. Best football movie alongside Gridiron Gang

Idc what u say . Winchil had heart. He was a beast. Ride or die gun slinger with average arm. Luckily back then they wud run it 50 times a game. Carter cowboys DID cheat. This scene gives me chills cuz I played football and we lost also. I played in the state championship game. And during that season we went to see this movie for free because somebody somebody liked our team and we went to see it. It was in 2004 on our way to the super bowl or the state championship game for high school. I'll never forget being in the state championship game ever win or lose.
