Growing up through childhood and college, Josephine is constantly relying on her best friend - friend is generous, consistent and gracious in her support. No mention by Josephine of co-dependence or reciprocation.

Doesn't attend former best friend's wedding, claims to have contributed to wedding via presence in anecdote. Relationship has devolved from best friend of 10+ years to non-attendance at wedding.

... time passes with minimal interaction to potentially awkward phase ...

Later, Josephine needs unspecified help and current support network will not suffice, once again reaches out to old friend. Friend makes special effort to support Josephine in-person and reunion dinner takes place at McDonald's.

At dinner, friend mentions birthday party, is cut off by Josephine who assumes she is invited and accepts an invitation which has not yet been extended.

Josephine congratulates herself on being good friend. Tells world of special, one-sided relationship, wins 3rd place in public speaking competition.

Pretty impressed how she made the top three using the bare minimum time limit

Speakers should seriously stop using this artificial, sob-for-stage technique @1:31. Female speakers tend to do it more. Is this public speaking? Would any of the great speakers do this? Toastmasters has also gone far too much into the hee-hee-haa-haa style of speaking with diluted, feel-good, fake-smiling, fake-personality deliveries. Yes it's a good speech, but just look at that fake smile when she starts - I wouldn't want to be friends with that fake person. People should be who they are and just deliver a part of themselves.
