China's auto industry is highly competitive, and the pressure within some car companies is becoming more evident. Recently, Chery Automobile has been accused of forcing employees to work overtime, sparking a heated discussion online.
According to Jiemian News, a netizen claiming to be a "Chery employee" revealed that the company forces employees to work more than 20 hours of overtime each week without proper compensation, offering only a daily meal allowance of 10 yuan. Additionally, employees' overtime leave is strictly limited, with some departments even banning time off and using overtime hours as a basis for dismissals.

For any of the people wondering about subsidies, you STILL have about 100 BEV companies in a country that doesn't have as large of an auto market as the US. The ONLY way you get that many companies pumping out cars is when they get subsidies per vehicle made, because they don't even know if they can sell them. There should NEVER be the case that you can have that much over production in companies making products that cost $20, 000+ USD, which most of these vehicles would even being cheaply built.

Europe and the US do subsidies to the buyer, which doesn't favor any particular company as a rule though there can be some shadiness added in. The point is though that 100 BEV companies could NEVER exist with that scheme, because there is no subsidy going to a company. They might get incentives to put a factory in a particular place and low taxes for a time period but it's never to the extent of subsidizing each product made. Someone has to BUY a product because a subsidy is realized, and in the case of the company they can only benefit from that if they can charge more for a product and it is still purchased.

There should only be about 5 BEV companies in China that are Chinese brands. That's about what the market can support.

"Chinese EVs have issues" understatement of the decade

As a German, the amount of money chinese workers make in a year is barely more than double of what some manufacturers offer their workers here per month

To say that Chinese EVs have some issues is like saying that the Titanic had a small leak.

Since promotion in the CCP system is currently meeasured in GDP you can expect the car industry to follow China's housing counstruction industry.

They force them to work overtime to build cars they cannot sell? Somebody skipped a couple of classes at Chinese business academy, lol. They seem to think the end goal is to build as many cars as possible rather than to SELL as many cars as possible, lol.

It’s unfair business practices with their employees. As if these companies in China are going to play the rules and ethics of standards and practices.

We can see that the sky in China is always covered in smog. Even a layman can see with his own eyes how high the smog levels are.☁️☁️

I don’t understand this. I thought car companies were having trouble selling cars. Mandatory overtime means more cars produced. What’s happening to those cars?
