M36 Jackson: The Tank Destroyer That Took on the King Tiger!

The M36 Jackson tank destroyer was a game-changer in WW2, designed to counter heavily armored German tanks like the King Tiger and Panther. Armed with a powerful 90mm canon, the M36 Jackson outperformed its predecessor, the M10 Wolverine, in stopping enemy armor. This WW2 tank destroyer played a crucial role in battles like the Ardennes Offensive and the Battle of the Bulge, proving its effectiveness on the battlefield.

In this video, we dive into the M36 Jackson tank review, exploring its design, variants (M36B2, diesel M36 Jackson), and combat performance. How did it compare to other tank destroyers? How did it perform in games like World of Tanks? Join us as we analyze the Jackson Slugger in action and its impact on WWII tank warfare.

Good stuff here. Using contemporary photos of similar vehicles and identifying those vehicles is something that other creators should learn from you.

The M36 fascinates me because it was an excellent solution to a doctrinal problem the US Army had already recognized. That Tank Destroyers as separate units was an inefficient use of crews and vehicles. The ability to engage and destroy enemy tanks needed to be organic to the armored units, and the “fire brigade” use of TDs could easily lead to disaster if they couldn’t arrive quickly enough. Even splitting them up and attaching them at the Company or Platoon level simply meant that if those few M10s or M36s were knocked out, the 75mm Shermans would be hung out to dry. It’s the Mike Tyson quote in action. “Everybody’s got a plan till they get punched in the nose.” And the pre-war plan that America believed required Tank Destroyers turned out to be a bad idea IMO.

Why they drag their feet so long on the tank destroyers why did they decide not to provide them with the wide tracks

Another example of what could have been a very interesting peice that is virtually unwatchable due to voice syth software. I'd rather listen to Kermit the Frog narrate this same video, pronouncing every word correctly than this garbage.
