2025 Geely EX5 review - International first drive (New China EV for Australia)

That's because the brand is going to make some important changes to the new electric SUV before it arrives, including revised suspension tuning and ADAS technology calibrated to our road conditions in Australia.

Those will hopefully help it be better to drive than the China spec model I tested in the brand's home country recently, which left me a little underwhelmed in terms of the drive experience.

But otherwise? WOW - the interior is spacious and special feeling, the powertrain and battery specs seem pretty decent, and there's a really good chance it will be priced assertively, with a $45K starting point within the realms of possibility.

Is it worth waiting for? It could well be!

I believe the Geely EX5's back seat has an under seat drawer that you forgot to mention :)

Thanks for the review. Great engineering! Nice vehicle. Needs a cover for the rear storage. Come here to Brazil Geely! Zeekr just opened their first dealerships.

Thanks for the review. Any word on when you might be looking at the MG ES5? If the MG4 is anything to go by, it might at least have suspension tune that's a bit less soft.

I hope they offer a steering wheel. Can't stand squircles. They're mostly bad when you're turning..

During your first drive, did you notice if the car had a DAB radio - and was anything mentioned about VTG- VTH etc?

Just out of curiosity. Do you get any form of compensation from Geely for this review?

Nothing wrong with that but it should be disclosed. Cheers.

It looks suspiciously like a Hyundai?! At least outside but the interior is very Hugh Hefner. Looks like you've got a great gig!! Nice looking car .

We seem to be getting an avalanche of Chinese vehicles arriving in Australia and reviews of them nearly weekly. What we want is these reviews a honest opinion on quality and long term reliability and durability. Will it last 10 years ? Australias fleet is around 10 year mark.

Nice they flew you there to get a look at it. But yeah umm. It better be very well priced. Looks a tad ordinary. It's no Zeekr.
