Hi Peggy, hope you had a safe Christmas. I have fed all the seafood prawns shells etc to my Worm’s and also shredded up all the cardboard boxes and Christmas paper to give to the worms . 🇳🇿🪱

Mmm, soup might be on the menu here too, Peggy! Because we don't eat dairy, I make soups creamy by blending cauliflower into bone broth. A high speed blender makes it velvety smooth, just like cream!

Hi Peggy. I missed out with saying Merry Christmas so that will have to wait till next year 😮
I put shrimp shells in my worm farms after they were on the bbq and my worms did not like them one bit. I also found a dead worm on top of them in the bedding when i next looked. It was a stinky mess and a lot of bedding was thrown out with it but youll be glad to know it all went into the brush for the microbes to eat, didnt go in the trash 😊
Your idea of grinding them is a good one but im never feeding seafood again, once bitten twice shy as they say.
Happy New Year ( in advance ) 🎉

I used to put whole crustacean shells in my worm bins, but they would take forever to disappear. Now I let them dry out, pulverize and mix in with my worm chow.
As far as I know all seafood shells are very high in different proteins, mostly chitin, plus a good source of calcium, I also think the pulverized shells would act as a grit in the crop of the worms, it would be shameful to just throw them out. Interesting idea to make a broth with the shells before giving to the worms, will have to try that!
Hope you had a lovely Christmas! Happy New Year!!!

I’m thinking of getting one of those composters that sit in your kitchen, have you looked into those? Right now I see as many cons as there are pros. Take care Peggy and hope you both have a blessed rest of the week my friend.

The basis of a stock. Whether you're cooking shrimp or some other seafood.
