Cute and hardworking Pikas, residents of Rocky Mountains alpine tundra

This cute little animal is a pika. They have short limbs, a very round body, but no tail. They are close relatives of the rabbit, but with short, rounded ears. Pika lives in the alpine area of the mountains. However, you’re more likely to hear them than to see them. These cute furry balls are extremely vigilant. Often, after giving a high-pitched alarm call to friends, they quickly dash back to their burrow hid among the rocks. Pikas feed on grasses and wildflowers on the alpine tundra. Since they don’t hibernate, during summertime, they would spend a lot of time stocking up dried plants in their burrow for the lean time in the winter. Hardworking, smart, and cute. Aren’t they?
