How Much I Read Each Day

Here's what a typical day of reading looks like for me.

I don't think I'm a fast reader, but I fortunately do manage to carve out a decent bit of time each day to read. I typically read within three different chunks of the day and prefer to bounce between two books a time.

I'd be very curious to hear your reading habits: How many pages per day? What times of day? How many books at a time? Let me know!

I love these kinds of bookish discussions. It’s always interesting to learn about people’s reading habits and how they fit it into the day. I read for hours long chunks of time in the afternoons and evenings after work.

wow, I'm so surprised to have come across this channel discussing some Russian authors, but keep it up! it's exciting to see someone from the other culture appreciating or reflecting on some literature pieces of my native country. I was wondering where the interest comes from, though? I'm well aware that our literature is perceived as something depressing, long, with confusing names, patronymics etc., so that's my genuine interest. speaking of the video, totally agree about '12 chairs', absolutely hilarious book. there's Dovlatov who migrated to the US in the 70-80s and his humour is also on point

My reading is almost exclusively in the evening and on weekends.
Always nice to get a video from The Active Mind. Have a great day. 💚

I just purchased an English translation of "The Twelve Chairs" and cannot wait to read it. I've seen two Soviet versions of the film, plus the hilarious (and early) Mel Brooks version, which I highly recommend. Slavica published a Russian course book based around a reading of "The Twelve Chairs". You should check it out, since you're learning Russian. It's quite good.

Wonderful! I am building a new habit of reading for 30-45 minutes before sleeping with a red light. It really helps to shut your mind down

I do like reading leadership books and books that help me better understand society. So I'm trying to expand my knowledge in understanding certain perspectives. One book I am almost done reading is the anthropocene reviewed by john green.

I commute by train to work, that gives me about 90 minutes reading time! Then I usually try to get at least another hour or so, mostly before bed.

Thank you for the video! It was really interesting to know your reading schedule 😊

I normally read 2-3 times a day. I work from home for myself so my schedule is pretty flexible. I usually read for 2-3 hours in the morning and 1 hour before bed OR a couple of hours in the evening and 1 hour before bed. Sometimes I read all day, sometimes I don’t read at all (it happens a couple of times a month).

I’m so grateful I have that much time for this hobby 😊

Im a night owl and don't get up until 8 in the morning, i make breakfast and do emails, gardening, cleaning, but am done between 1 and 2. I then read for the rest if the day. If I wake up early, I i read before 8 too. I was so intrigued by the Demon, I ordered the two volumes. It's coming in two days, and I can't wait. i also found a clean copy on ebay of 12 Chairs. Thanks for making the video.

I've tried to implement waking up earlier in the day but always run into the problem of feeling lack of sleep. What time to you go to sleep to be able to wake up feeling energized at 3:50am? I feel like I would just be dragging throughout the day, eyes glossing over a page.

My reading habits change when the seasons do. I tend to read more in the colder months. I go into the office twice a week and fit in the reading while on the train there and back and tend to read throughout the day on the weekends in between chores, gaming, and whatever else. But any other reading, like before bed varies from my day. I guess I don't really dedicate time, I just fit it in when I can or feel like reading. When I did try to dedicate time, it felt like a chore and I was always distracted, so I decided to just read when I actually wanted to.

There's a 3:50 in the morning? Who knew.... Now that I'm retired, I read mostly in the morning, then sporadic throughout the day. Depending on what else I have going.

The Soviet film TWELVE CHAIRS is excellent, as is Mel Brooks' version. As far as Russian books go, I highly recommend Saltykov-Shchedrin's THE GOLOVLOVS - he was arguably Russia's leading satirist in the 19th C. For more recent satire, try any of Andrey Kurkov's novels. He's Ukrainian but sets the action in post-Soviet Russia.

I wake up early, brew coffee and read ( usually the more involved book). I will later read an easier fun filled book before bed.

Wow. Is this mean that you are going to bed about 8:00 in the evening?

P.S. I'm confused - you are comparing "Daemons" to Dostoyevsky's books, but "Deamons" are written by Dostoyevsky, so...?
