Today marks 50 years of India's victory in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War & Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes in the national capital.
He participated in the homage and reception ceremony of the 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaals' at the National War Memorial. The Prime Minister lit the eternal flame, which merges the 4 'mashaals' that were lit last year on this date. The flames have since travelled across the country, including the key battle areas. President Ram Nath Kovind is in Bangladesh for a three-day visit to mark this momentous day in the history of both nations.
