What is Apache Hive? | Apache Hive Tutorial for Beginners | Data Models in Apache Hive | 360DigiTMG

The objective of this tutorial is to help you gain an understanding of the Data models of Apache Hive. You will also learn about the difference between internal and external tables of Hive and how Hive manages its data in tables which means how data is loaded, controlled and managed.

Hive is a data warehouse infrastructure that is dependant on Hadoop. It provides the capability of querying and analyzing data using SQL like language called HiveQL. Hive uses Map Reduce and HDFS for processing, storing and retrieving data. The tutorial runs you through a step by step process of launching Hive, creating an Internal table, loading data into Hive table, creating a view and then changing the internal table into an external table and vice versa.
This is a brief tutorial on how to use Apache Hive, its features, and its components.
