Modern buildings and infrastructure in Mexico City are built to resist earthquakes. Buildings that went down in last major earthquake in 2017 were built prior to the 1985 earthquakes.

Typhoon in Japan, hurricane in Puerto Rico, quake in Mexico. The Earth seems to be a bit mad this week.

I've been through one a little smaller than this. Even if you suffer no damage, it is traumatizing. Then come the seemly endless aftershocks & the waiting. Much love to all who are affected.

Here in the city of Manzanillo, state of Colima a person died by a wall falling over from a building. In the capital city of colima there is little to medium damage to homes, shopping malls, gyms, offices and hospitals. Some media outlets say it was a 7.4 to 7.7 on scale. The state is on alert for tsunami in the coastal areas.

“these structures are not built like those in the usa” …..the vast majority of structures on the west coast especially in the pacific northwest are not built for earthquakes whatsoever

Puerto Vallarta, another large city, also 200 miles away. Only 2 fatalities? That is a blessing. Prayers for Mexico.🙏🏼 🇲🇽 ❤️ 🇺🇲

3 vicious earthquakes on September 19; on the years 1985, 2017 and 2022. And also other 2 big ones both on septermer 7; on the years 2017 and 2021. Too much coincidences, don't you think?

I am in Mexico City and felt it. Gentle swaying motion from several directions as well as rotation ad up and down. One I experienced in Managua Nicaragua October 13, 2014 had more muscle. Of course I was near the epicenter on that one where cement walls looked like wet flowing cement.. My solution for earthquakes is to get between the mattress and box spring. But no way am I going outside. Windows from tall buildings as well as electrical lines are more than I am prepared to face.

The earthquake felt very strong here in Guadalajara. But in Manzanillo the earthquake had a greater impact and there is too much damage, and unfortunately people died😣😞

Do not worry Americans...Mexico is not Haiti. Mexico will recover and will not use this as an excuse to not move forward like many other nations.

I live in Michoacan, and we are about 4 hours from the epicenter, and it was felt. My kiddos just got finished doing a earthquake drill about 10 minutes prior, but luckily their private school has alarms. 99% of all buildings are built to withstand earthquakes after the one from 1985, so we are good. Prayers to all
