This was perfectly executed and acted out very well. I've never given Uncle Sam a second thought as to how he came about, but this one really has me thinking now!

The real origin: An 1810 edition of Niles' Weekly Register has a footnote defining Uncle Sam as "a cant term in the army for the United States." Presumably, it came from the abbreviation of the United States of America: U.S.
