A lot of people are stuck at home binge-watching TV right now, so by request I'm looking at a collapsible silicone popcorn popping bowl to see if it really works! I ordered the most popular model on Amazon and tried it out.

As someone who's been regularly using an almost identical bowl for years I'd like to add my personal tips.
Raw popcorn is indeed painfully bland so flavoring is key to really enjoy this.
I have no idea where the no oil recommendation comes from since the instructions that came with mine suggested cooking with oil and I never had an issue.
Here's my best popcorn seasoning refined over the years:
For one 1/4 or 1/3 cup of corn ( I personally always make the larger portion)
- One table spoon of corn oil
- One table spoon of Butter or Margarine
- 1/4 tea spoon of salt powder
Cooking with the seasoning makes for a drastically more convenient and enjoyable experience. It's not only easier but also does a much better job.
I strongly recommend the salt powder as it flavors the kernels much more evenly and significantly improve the taste.
I use corn oil as I find it enhances the popcorn flavor instead of dampening it.
Happy popping

The best popper ever! No oil, etc, needed. Pour in the popcorn, throw the lid on and my microwave pops the whole tub in under 3 minutes. I add my butter and salt later. Rinse the popper out with warm water and done. I’ve had mine for 3 years. ❤

I bought one of these, unopened and still in the packaging, at a thrift store for a couple bucks. I agree, this is a great product! Works great every time. Also, cleaning the popper is very easy. You can collapse it and put it in your dishwasher.

I remember “Jiffy Pop”, the kind you put on the burner and shake back and forth and watch the popping raise the aluminum twist into a dome.

I still pop my popcorn on the stove, using coconut oil. Just a couple of unpopped kernels. It just taste better with oil.

Just watched the video in May 2023. We've been using this product for about a year and it works great! To 1/4 cup pop corn, we add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol (this is what they use in movie theaters to season the pop corn). Microwave for 2:20 and you have movie theater quality pop corn. It's great!

I'm biased for Orville Redenbacher (1907-95). I met him at a reception in college around 1980 that he attended because his granddaughter was in my dorm. The instant he found out that we had popcorn out for snacks he made a beeline for it, and examined it closely kernel by kernel until he declared that it was "his" popcorn and that we had cooked and seasoned it properly... and he was correct. What a guru! He was very interesting to talk to, knew positively everything there was to know about popcorn, and dressed and spoke exactly as you'd expect from his many TV commercials.

The best part of popping your own popcorn in the microwave or in another type of popper is that you can put any kind of topping on it. My fave is some butter & Old Bay.

Also we know Bailey runs that joint. Many of us are dog &/or cat slaves so we know how it goes.

I’m still working. Work in hospital billing. Considered essential in keeping hospital running. Just want to come home each day and shut my brain off. No social media. No news. These videos are really helping with my stress and anxiety. Thank you.

Thanks James! Those bowls are great. On my microwave 3:40 is the perfect time. The bowl cools off in a minute or two...I never transfer it to another bowl.

I bought one about 8 months ago, this thing works fantastic I put Orville corn kernels up to the first line and put it in microwave for 2minutes 35 seconds. Works perfect every time. Use popcorn salt and theatre butter spray. Cleans up in dishwasher and collapsed for storage.

“A Seen On Youtube” is what companies need to start putting on their packaging lol. I feel like you’re the online version of Ronco, Billy Mayes, Anthony Sullivan, etc... it’s nice watching you review these ASOT items.

I have this, and it is amazing! 5.0

Couple of things. First, there is no comparing this to any air-popped pockorn I've ever had. Even with no oil or salt, it's pretty good. When you go and try to ad salt for more flavor, just like air-popped popcorn, with no oil, salt, even popcorn salt will not stick to it. I've found you can take salt or popcorn salt, put it into a blender and blend it till it is super-fine and it will stick to the popcorn popped with no oil. I just store the super-fine salt in a regular salt shaker.

The instructions say you should never put salt or oil on the corn before popping, but I have done it and gotten GREAT results. YMMV. I would never advise anyone not to follow the manufacturer's directions, but here's what I do.

I put the cupful of popcorn in the popper.

Then I put salt on the popcorn. I had to experiment with it to find the correct amount.

Then I put just a splash of popcorn oil on top of the corn.

Finally I stir it with my finger till the popcorn is completely coated with oil and salt, then cook as normal.

It is the best popcorn I've ever made, and I use significantly less oil and salt than with any other method I've tried.

After watching your review, I decided to get one for myself. This works SOOO awesome! Please keep up the reviews. I look at your channel to see if you've reviewed an item before deciding on purchasing, and have found you to be spot on. You've also prevented me from getting things that I would have ordered if it hadn't been for your reviews.
So - again - thank you! Keep up the great job!
