Mind you, most of South Africa's army is specialized in bush warfare. Sort of in between savannah and desert, so they needed vehicles that could effortlessly push through brush and thicket. So they needed to be light. But the enemies, such as the Angolans were Soviet backed so they had pretty ok tanks. So those vehicles had to have decent armament to deal with it.
AND all of this happened whilst South Africa was put under a lot of sanctions because of apartheid, so they were on their own when it came to military designing and production. But in my opinion they still *cooked*

The thing that War Thunder will never be able to replicate, ironically, is actual war, because at its heart, it still involves massive amounts of infantry, something tanks like the BT-42 and Concept 3 would be more adept at dealing with.

The craziest one is that the Swedish Strv74 was in service until 1984, while the chassis was still built on the Lago Strv M/40 (designed in 1934) so the tank in some way, basically served for 50 years 😅
