The DS3 is Citroen's entry into the premium supermini segment and offers buyers a stylish alternative to the MINI hatchback and Alfa Romeo MiTo. It's based on the Citroen C3 but offers a more upmarket cabin and a more exciting driving experience. Engines range from an efficient 89bhp diesel, which is free from road-tax thanks to its low CO2 emissions, to a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine with 148bhp which offers hot-hatch thrills. There's also a range-topping DS3 Racing model, but only 200 examples were sold in the UK. All variants get a spacious, stylish and luxurious cabin making the DS3 a fantastic all-rounder.

The Mini used to be a premium brand, that was about five or six years ago, when residual values were sky high.
They still hold their value well, not as well as they used to.
Unfortunately they are being manufactured at a remarkable rate, making them so common that few people take any notice of a new model.
It is still a good car, but has lost a lot of its up market image due to too many being made.
Recently i ordered a brand new Supermini, and no i did not visit my local Mini showroom.
Spending a large amount of personal cash, i chose a new Audi A1.
The reason for that, was its interior was far more upmarket than the Mini, and Audi have sensibly not flooded the market with them, making their image slightly better than the Mini.

My friend got a DS3 1.6 THP. She haven't been driving it that much. When the car passed 48000km a spoket between camshaft and the vacuum pump for the power brakes snapped taking the timing-chain with it :S. the car is 4 years old and Citroen first respons is that they dont want to cover it. Here family have been loyal Citroen owners to. Here mother also had a DS3 1.6 THP with 98000km. Sure enough it also had Timing-chain rattle when we took of the valvcover for inspection.

Both cars have been serviced at Citroen dealership and when they have been driven its mainly on highways.

I drive one of these. And yes I can admit that no cup holders is really annoying. But still a really cool car. I love it!

I drive one and the most annoying part is the lack of cup holders, THE MOST BASIC THING THATS NEEDED

I recently bought this and it's simply an amazing car. Very comfy, beautiful interior and quite fast.

It's actually an interesting looking car. But it's too inconvenient if it doesn't have any storage space or cup holders.
