Representatives of 100 Canadian municipalities will be in Thunder Bay this week when the City hosts the Spring Meeting of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Board.
"We're proud to have been chosen to host these important events," said Mayor Keith Hobbs. "I'm looking forward to the meetings and the discussions that will take place with a broad representation of Canadian municipalities."
The Spring Meeting is expected to include committee meetings, as well as discussions on larger issues including the new Building Canada Fund, rail safety, a Canadian Housing Strategy, as well as the next federal election, currently scheduled to take place in 2015.
"These are important issues that affect us all," said Councillor Linda Rydholm, Thunder Bay's representative on the FCM board. "There is a need for us, as Canadian municipalities, to work together toward a better future for each one of our citizens. FCM is a vehicle that allows that -- by standing alongside our fellow cities, we can join our voices as one and ensure we're heard by other orders of government."
