Bmw Zf8hp problem jerks in 1st gear

My 120D from 2012 started having these strokes. Mainly on cold engine only which is not too bad. If its warm, which takes a while especially for a Diesel and a car lover like me, who doesnt floor his poor car on cold engine etc. Like most people do that have no idea about cars or driving, i still have some inbalanced shifting in the first few gears, like the revs suddenly go up very fast without flooring much more, but staying on the same place with my foot, and the rpm goes from like 1K to like 2 or 2.5K very quick and only then shifts into the next. I love the ZF 8 speed, economic, but fast if you need it. Works very well. But its not a Secret that after a certain milage, especially with older Models like mine (2012) they will obvisouly not be smooth compared to the newest ones

my f10 have the same problem as yours, i changed the transmission oil but the jerking still doesn't go away. Please tell me how you fixed it.

Might be because you have put 353k miles on the trans. Trans eventually need overhauled

I owned 2 cars with ZF8HP transmissions and drove 11 seperate cars with this transmission and I have to tell you, I hate it. I had nothing but trouble with these. Jerky and slow. Had to rebuild 2 of them: one from a 90.000 mile Audi A7 and one from a 70.000 mile Audi A8. And the best thing is, I constantly hear that this is the best transmission in the world. Ask the shops who makes money only from repairing these type of transmissions. Piece of garbage....

Well, most automatic transmissions are expected to last only about 100, 000 miles. You’ve driven this car way past that. Time for an overhaul.

You should reset the transmission brain
