Michael Laudrup ⚽ The Essential Passing Compilation

My Ultimate Passing compilation was made 11 years ago and was in need of a quality upgrade. The first parts of this video are a mostly faithful recreation of the old one, but along the way it becomes its own unique creation with new clips not previously uploaded. Wherever possible, poor video quality is replaced by better. Enjoy Laudrup.

The perfect definition of a playmaker. One of the greatest gifts I received in my life as a football fan was watching this dude play professional football between 1992 and 1998. Without a doubt, the most underrated athlete ever and one of the most technically gifted footballers of all time. Magician, absolute genius!

Magic Johnson of football. Best passer in history hands down.

If I had to pick only ONE trait of Michael Laudrup which sets him apart from other players, it would be the weight of his passes.
There have been (and are) players who see opportunities which 99% of other never see.
Some of those players even have the ability to pass the ball at the right moment, and on exactly the right line...

But nobody put it all together as consistently and beautifully as Laudrup with perfect weight.
See the opportunity, pass the ball at exactly the right moment, thread the needle or lob the pass over the defense...and most importantly, make sure it arrives in such a way that your teammate doesn't even need to break stride.

His passes are like the brushstrokes of Michelangelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

He made (as I've counted it) exactly 105 direct assists in this video alone. If you don't know how much that is, Zidane himself made only 92 in his entire career (and scores fewer goals). Laudrup’s total number of direct assists in his career is not official, but based on his assist ratio in the champions league matches he played for Juve, Barça, Madrid, and Ajax (19 in 69 games), he ought to have made about 160 in his career (out of the 580 games he played professionally). That is very, very good indeed. This would be 0.28 assists per game, beating both Xavi's of 0.24, Baggio's of 0.23, and Iniesta's of 0.21 per game, as well as FAR outperforming the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Zidane, and Pirlo. People always talk about him as "elegant" and "great to watch, " but that in itself doesn't make him world class. He's one of the best ever with these stats.

1:15:29 classic Laudrup backline cross going back to good ol' Italy days.

The boy Michael Laudrup, before he became a man was a man ahead of the men of his day!

Has to be one of the most under the radar GOATs of football. Rarely hear him spoken of these days but you watch these clips and it's obvious he had ridiculous vision and class on the ball. Seems lightyears ahead of everyone on the pitch when it comes to spotting an opening.

He basically had the playmaking equivalent of Haaland's eye for a run. Honestly they'd be racking up 5 goals/assists per game between the two of them easy if they were playing together right now, those Laudrup passes just scythe through traffic like it's nothing.

This compilation should be shared to every football fan, their relatives and friends not watching football fan.
Or maybe just to FIFA.

And: Laudrup was the Ultimate gentleman. Hardly ever committed a foul, never protested and almost never got booked. Sheer class, brain and feet. The Federer of football.

To me the greatest ever playmaker! Laudrup’s passing breaks immersion, spatial awareness can only be compared with greats of chess like Kasparov, Carlson or Fischer!
