Gotta love Davie504 in his early stuff. The silent character that just killed it on the bass and just some few written words. Sort of a Mr Bean of the bass. Still dig the new stuff, but the old shit is still good.

Claypool is the man. I strongly recommend seeing him live during one of his solo performances. He gets way more experimental at those shows.

Les Claypool is one of the reasons I play bass.

This is a prime example of why Davie really is one of the greatest. Each of these bass lines is technically challenging, Les is a true master and very few would play this as easy as Davie does. And to top it off - because I’ve seen other play it as well - Davie has that swing. He digs it. He gets it. It has the same pop, the same jive. It’s amazing.
Although I love him also for the bantz and the memes, his skill is really humongous, and crazy impressive.

Fun fact: Les did have bass guitars with 5 or 6 strings, but he used only 4 most of the time. During the frizzle fry era and long after.

Tommy the Cat is really often referenced for folks to get an introduction to Primus but after spending 3/4 of my life as a rabid Les Claypool fan I still think it's one of the greatest bass lines ever written. Just such a hard hitter
