I hope they play this a few more times on the tour, plus Big Boots (Man Of War), plus Lift. Oh and while I'm here, do the words "Follow Me Around" mean anything to anyone here?

Ehhh. These songs were good 20 years ago. The depth that they have gone into from then is just to intense to almost return.
I will buy the album just to have it downloaded on my phone. I was hoping for a new album to crisson the anniversary not rehash old songs that aren't very innovative today. Still love Radiohead. They still took me to happiness through my life.

am I right in thinking the solo (that plays twice) is Johnny Greenwoods bass? Cause the octave and tone make me think so

"I Promise" was not in set-list yesterday, but somebody uploaded this video, did Radiohead really play it in Oslo?

there's osmething about this arrangement I just really really hate.
hear me out.
This song is a build-up song. But it starts too loud and built up. I mean, just look at Ravel's Bolero, or pretty much any great Roy Orbison song (like Crying or, especially, Running Scared).
Those songs do so much more with dynamics to kinda lead the story forward, building tension up to a climax.

But, although it's nice, this song is much more dead and plodding. Not to mention the keyboard strings sound like from a 2000s era Flaming Lips song! (Not that it's a bad thing, but maybe a step down, no?) But, that'd be alright if they had managed to build the emotionality a bit better. Saying 'I promise' over and over should actually yield something from the repetition, like a good Bob Dylan song or basically any poetry they teach you in high school/college. Each time you return to the phrase it should have a new meaning. But after the first couple lines of this song you can tune it out because NOTHING changes. Sad!

God, I'm listening to it right now, and the fact that the drums and guitar stay at the SAME Volume and intensity while Thom is trying to build emotion through raising vocal pitch...it's like a high school band mistake. Perhaps the easiest fix is if he had just sing/whispered the first few lines before using more of his full voice. UGH
