I have been across the highway from David-Monthan (PIMA air and space museum) and seen these birds takeoff/ perform formations/mock encounters and they are every bit as awesome as they appear

@2:55 you can see 'Nipple Peak' in the background, (The Rincon Mountains), pretty distinct coming from west to east on I-10.

Davis Monthan is a cool base. Theres a air museum there and you can drive on kolb through the base your between fences and sometimes down in a ditch. but then in some places you get to see cool aircraft, for awhile it was A-10s then F-16s, last I seen was a bunch of C-130s, that was quite a while ago idk what's there now.

Good video. Love the A-10, was stationed at RAF Bentwaters UK, 1986-1989 with the 81 TFW. Was in POL so, we worked these bad boys everyday. Pretty awesome aircraft. The "Gun" is the coolest part of the A/C but the pilots really know how to make them work the whole frame.

I was an Army ROTC cadet on a Field Training Exercise at Jefferson Proving Ground in Indiana in May, 1985. We were dug in on a low hill waiting for the other guys to "attack". All the sudden I heard what I tried to describe as an electric coffee grinder gone berserk. It was my first time ever hearing the for which the A-10 is so famous. I looked up and saw two of the black crosses go screaming down like metallic birds of prey. They fired another burst from their guns, and I swear it looked like the planes stopped in mid air for a second. I asked what those were, and they told me they were close air support planes from the Ohio Air National Guard doing bombing and gun runs down in the valley. All I could think was "I'm glad they're on our side."
