Constitutional Compromises: Crash Course Government and Politics #5

Показать описание
In which Craig Benzine teaches you about the compromises met in ratifying the U.S. Constitution. The United States didn’t always have its current system of government. Actually, this is its second attempt. Craig will delve into the failures (and few successes) of the Articles of Confederation, tell you how delegates settled on a two-house system of representation, discuss the issues of slavery and population that have been embedded into our constitution, and fire up the clone machine to discuss how federalists and anti-federalist opposition provided the U.S. a Bill of Rights. And who knows, maybe all this talk of compromise will even inspire Craig and eagle to find some middle ground.

Chapters:
Introduction: The Constitution 00:00
The Articles of Confederation: Precursor to the Constitution 0:28

I really like this guy. His voice is really easy to listen to. Also this CC is great, in high school we don't learn much about the pre-constitutional arguments and debates.

I think it'd be really interesting for CrashCourse to cover a more introductory level to political science as a whole, in addition to simply learning about American Politics. There's a lot to be learned about the history of modern day political science. Starting from the formation of each major political ideology in the relevant historical context would be worthwhile and very interesting. Especially when exploring the mindset of each philosopher, and what validated their views to their following. And furthermore how each conflicted with one another, and changed as a result over time. I really like learning about politics in this scope, and was hoping that they'd cover some of this content in this series.

What people miss is that counting slaves at all was a bad thing for the actual slaves.  Keeping the South more heavily represented early in the process allowed the South to maintain significant power early on (contributing to the perpetuation of slavery).

'I can barely get Stan to agree on anything, right Stan?'
It was right then that the video shut off for a loading error. Apparently, Stan can't even agree whether this episode should run.

Thanks for listening and taking out the voices every time he reads. Craig's a funny guy, but more than that he's a great educator. His explanations are brief but coherent. I enjoy these videos for the simplicity of explanation and light hearted atmosphere.

I like the clone zone as a place where multiple things can be explained/debated at once. I do not like the voices Craig puts on.

Thank you so much for having subtitles on all of the Crash Course videos! It makes taking notes so much easier and I can actually spell things correctly this way!

Love this! So happy CC is helping explain these topics since schools usually just gloss over it.
