Thousands of Australians celebrate Australia Day

Australia Day is being celebrated all over the country this Sunday. In Sydney, traditional ceremonies took place at dawn in various locations including Bondi beach and Barangaroo. The Sydney Opera House was also lit up with traditional paintings.

Our way of life in this beautiful country has come at a great cost to First Nations people. The invaders went to war against 50 Aboriginal Nations. It was genocide.

Not so long ago, the government stole a generation of First Nations children and gave them to white folks to raise.

Today we celebrate their survival. We can’t change the past, but we each have the power to shape a better future.

Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
