What if the pre-existing condition was misdiagnosed and treated only on a symptomatic response, even when the symptoms might have been sufficiently addressed as a stop-gap that eventually erodes to the point of collapse? I believe that this misdiagnosis exacerbated rather than mitigating my continued spiral into more extreme symptoms and prevalence of disability — which is directly affected by the nature of my work which exposes me to secondary trauma, which further traumatizes me.

I had to appeal my LTD denial and won on my own. I’m 55 and had a 2 stage surgery that corrected severe scoliosis and flat back syndrome. I also had 2 carpel tunnel surgeries, 6 trigger fingers that needed to be surgically released, I had surgery to repair a fractured hip, and 4 cervical spine surgeries. I also have high blood pressure. I am an RN that worked for Cigna. As a disabled employee they provided no adaptive equipment or accommodations. They have a department called vocational rehab but they advised me they could not assist me until after surgery. I’m now just over 2 years post op spinal reconstruction. Now I am being terminated because I only had 8 years of continuous employment instead of the required 9. Is there anything I can do. Thank you.
