CMM: GODZILLA VS. THE SMOG MONSTER 'Save The Earth' theme! -- Adryan Russ

This AIP's English version of the title song of Godzilla vs. Hedora (1971), released in the U.S. as Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. It's rather catchy, and quite remarkable considering that the words were altered to match the singer's lip movements, as she sang in Japanese. Love this song. Enjoy!

Although I like the "Hedorah" title better than the "Smog Monster" title, I like the "Smog Monster" version of the film better because it has this song in English. Loved that song.

When I first saw this as a kid, I thought it was the worst Godzilla movie ever made. When I grew up, I appreciated its utter oddness. Despite its somewhat corny message delivery, it was definitely the product of someone thinking outside the box. Along with the politically charged "Shin Godzilla", this one can stand alongside the original "Gojira" as something that rises above its genre origins.

I well remember when this film came out. I went nuts for it, and to this day it's the best and coolest monster movie I have ever seen. I got interested in recycling & environment back in the early 70's, before it caught on--did this film have something to do with it? I think so. I've always remembered the uplifting song, too.

And recently I read they're planning a sequel!

I went to see this movie with my bro, 40 years ago, I was fascinating with these monsters! The music theme still sound in my mind: save the earth!
