Basement sump pumps in proper operation is a #1 priority in my home. Backup pumps and alarms, as well as a stand by generator have kept us mess free for 17 years. Yes, 2 pumps have failed, and one switch.... but the secondaries did their job until I could get in there and fix the primary.

Did he just walk on water? Feet didn't even get wet! ...wouldn't surprise me. He can do everything else 😂

Ah, the joys. Had that happen once and that's when I learned how to replace a faulty float switch.

Been there done that too my friend. I like your bucket bed-frame transportation device you have there you should patent that.😂

Reason I have 2 pumps. One set a bit higher just in case the first one quits for any reason.

I like a vertical switch on the piggy back style pump and also wire in a counter. This method allows you to monitor how many cycles your pump is actually doing.

I stopped using the corded float. I like pumps with vertical switch...I took submersible pump out and put in Pedestal pump. with a trustworthy vertical rod switch above the pit

Lucky are those with sewer connections that have basement drains that gravity flow into the sewer line without the need for a sump pump.

I have two sump pump cracks in my home. In each crock there are two cast iron 1 horsepower sump pumps. One is positioned higher than the other. That way if the bottom one fails, the top one will take over. They are both submersible pumps so they stay cool. Play around with the floats and make sure that they are free and able to move freely once a week

Best thing I ever did was replace our float with a solid state level switch. Not cheap, but worth every penny

Been in this situation many times. Not fun.

also it's a good idea to have a second pump in every pit, with a separate discharge line ideally

Have had this happen to me. Went on vacation an pump didn’t turn on. Shook it an fired up. Destroyed my basement…

My house is on high ground but if I did ever need a sump pump like this person I’d have two in the hole. As well as a water powered pump just in case the power went out

Never been a fan of that style of float switch. Had too many issues at my properties.

Is that the Milwaukee bed frame? Do you like it?

In the UK we don't really have basements but this is nightmare fuel for me, all my possessions gone.

What would you recommend doing if the pump doesn’t work once you shake it? And the water just keeps refilling
