Thousands of Imran Khan supporters converge on Pakistan capital | BBC News

Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, is under lockdown for a second day as thousands of protesters demanding the release of former prime minister Imran Khan from jail converge on the city.

His supporters are also calling for the overturning of election results they say were rigged - a claim disputed by the Pakistan government.

The former PM has been detained for more than a year on various charges, but remains hugely popular despite his legal troubles and his supporters have been protesting for months.

His wife, Bushra Bibi, told supporters on Monday that the march would continue until her husband was free.

I think reporter didn't mentioned the real demands of this protest. Imran Khan didn't say to release him, but he has three demands. 1-Februray 24 election mandate should return to PTI. 2-Revert the 26th amendment where Judiciary have it's power back. 3- Release of all poisoners who are in jailed on politically motivated charges.

When is come to the demands, she missed the most important ones people of Pakistan want their stolen mandate back which they gave to Imran Khan on the election day and recently illegitimate government passed 26th amendment to the constitution of Pakistan in just few hours without any debate whole purpose of that amendment is to cut hands of judiciary. We want that amendment to be taken back and yes we want Imran Khan and all the other innocent prisoners released
