Energy regulator OFGEM has confirmed a cut to its price cap that will see average household bills come down this autumn, as experts continue to warn of hikes to come during the winter months.

Ofgem Chief Executive Jonathan Brearley said: "I know many families will still be struggling to pay their bills so it's a step in the right direction but clearly a long way to go."

Get rid of the exorbitant standing charge. No matter how much I reduce power use still get this charged and now nearly takes up 30% added cost to the monthly bill. We have no idea where the money goes, or what elements are increased each time. The fact no one is prepared to reveal I suspect it goes to providing subsidies for companies that are registered outside UK tax system and making a pile of money out of the "green revolution " ripping off consumers all the time

Spain dealt with profiteering. That’s why inflation is so low there.
Our Establishment Brexitory Govt opted to maximise Corporate profits at the expense of ordinary people.
That’s the price we pay to be governed by anonymously funded Think Tanks

Mmm, isn’t that what Parliament calls ‘Misleading’. The caps lowered, that’s Does Not Mean bills will. Standing charge, well, wouldn’t bet on that not going Up again. Patronising load of Old Cobblers.

Well, when the country is completely at the mercy of international markets as there has been no joined up energy policy to secure domestic energy for decades, this is result. The UK is a text book case in how not to secure domestic energy, I suppose we will all continue to put our hands in our pocket to pay for this political mistake as there is still no cross party agreed energy policy.

He has not mentioned that standing charges have risen to compensate for the drop in Kw rates.
