My tip is to research research research. Do your own work, look up the VA disability rating chart with diagnosis. Collect your own medical records and submit them with the claim. Never rely on them to get copies. I did my own claim and was rated 100% T/P in two months.

I truly wish success to Veterans who have to navigate the system; it’s not easy but persistence can really pay off. I got out in 1968 with 30% and my rating went up as the years went by.

Thanks for posting this ! I separated from the military 🪖 almost 45 years ago, and I didn't know that I was entitled to compensation and pension until 3 years after my discharge ! I worked in the VA Claims section for almost 30 years and helped 1000's across America and hundreds in my new home state ! Even though I am now retired and now longer can work handling claims, I still meet veterans needing help and I give out what I learned freely. Currently I have a claim pending for review and increase, but Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and restricted access has got claims backed up almost two years or so ! So I urge patience and gentle persistence in dealing with this process .And it always helps to have an excellent Veterans Services Organization representing you 🙌 !

You got this 100% correct! Best bet is to put in your worse and most recorded Service connected injury. I originally put in for PTSD and as the time of review, collecting my data and discussing Comp and Pay I got all my problems looked at, scanned and worked on. As that was happening my original claim for PTSD was increased to PTSD with general anxiety and hyperactive disorders. Like the man said focus on 1 disability at a time being your most proven one.

As a vsr, thank you for talking about being strategic. You nailed it. I work claims everyday where people just write down random conditions on the 526 hoping something sticks. Its a complete waste of time and ultimately only hurts other veterans because those claims back up everybody who has legitimate claims.

Beautifully done, I've been diagnosed with IBS a few years later, I'm sure that's a secondary condition to my PTSD/TBI which was diagnosed while in service after Afghanistan.

I have lost my DD 214 I was in the National Guard for six years I went on deployment operation desert shield, my son joined the Navy and was killed in the line of duty . What options are open to me ? My oldest son is also in the Navy. My son Darren Collins was working on a rack of radio equipment that was not anchored to the wall and it fell on him and he lost his life. There is more to this story and I will get into more details if you answer me back, but that’s up to you and I know that you are not a lawyer.

Good stuff. Do you work, vets. The internet is full of useful info for when filing. I put in hours and hours over months perfecting my claims and the EXACT wording that needs to be utilized during your C&P. Good luck, y'all.

Making a bunch of claims after a TBI is a mess here’s how they rate me 50% PTSD 30% Vertigo 20% Seizure Disorder 10% facial paralysis 10% tinnitus which gives a rating of 80% Permanent and Total IU paid at 100% I do have headaches and depression but a DAV Officer told me don’t file no more. Claims due to be rated at permanent and total since 2002 he told me don’t poke the bear

I sent them 200k pages of medical records from one year of 18 2 week hospital stays and surgery. Which was worse when my condition happened I spent 9 months ICU on active duty . Sadly they went oh you were supposed to be 100% when we medically retired you here you back pay at 100%. But had I done nothing they would of never started benefits.

Q. My parents have my brothers(100%covered who ended his life) kids. But now they have to move out of their retirement community. How can they try to get a VA home loan from the father being they are caring for the survivor kids. The veterans wife abandoned them.how can I help them with this?
