Brother ScanNCut Tips & Tricks - Cutting Patterned Paper - Birthday Bonanza

In this tutorial, you will learn how to cut out patterned paper using your Brother Scan and Cut CM350. The paper we are using for these examples is the Birthday Bonanza designer series paper by Stampin’ Up! It is part of the 2020 Mini Catalog. To cut out the patterns, I scanned in the paper and then selected a specific area. I shared tips and tricks on ignoring object size to removing unwanted parts, and how to add an outline distance. I used Direct Cut, an Outline Distance of 0.04", and a blade depth of 3 for cutting out the Birthday Bonanza dsp. After cutting out the toucans, I shared my "pencil trick" for enclosing in spaces so on the koalas. This trick is needed whenever you don't have a well defined line enclosing your image. We help the ScanNCut 2 recognize images by enclosing them first. An outline distance of 0.04" was added to the koalas prior to cutting them out with a blade depth of 3. I shared several of my projects I created using the the Birthday Bonanza Suite and the embellishments cut out from the ScanNCut. The 2020 Mini Catalog launched on January 3rd. These are some really cute papers. I'll have to go out and buy the paper pack. I just love your tutorials....always informative. Do you have a tutorial out there telling how to convert an SVG file so it can be put on a memory stick and loaded to the scan n cut. I just bought a SVG pack from Scrapbooking.com to support the Red Cross for Australia fires and they have some really nice things. If not I'll go ahead and see if I can find something on the conversion in YT. TFS all your knowledge !

Its helpful when you have been noting which machine you are using I have SNC2 and the instructions for the other machine new confuse me because I'm visual, a new user and I'm old. Lol

Another great tutorial, but I have a question for you. Can you scan to cut patterned paper using Canvas Workspace, and if so, how? I find it incredibly hard to work on the tiny screen that is on the Scan N Cut. Old eyes.

I am looking into buying a scan and cut . I am completely bamboozoled by all the different machines . I would only use it to cut DSP or download from computer and cut items on paper/ card stock . Would someone be able to help me with some advice as to what machine would be best to start with as don’t want to spend lots of money on a machine that I would not need and wouldn’t use . I’m assuming that I could buy one of the earlier machines and then upgrade if I want to . Many thanks for any help you could offer .
