Goes both ways. about a week ago a Dzn Afghani Cops were killed by US Air Force in a friendly fire event. US has acknowledge countless mis-identification events when friendly Afghani motorcades have been bombed by US. The Afghani deaths just never get counted

We should just leave Afghanistan alone. Maybe that is one country not worth changing and saving because of Isis and terrorists

A major problem is the pre training American and otherwise receive before entering the country. Convincing a soldier he is going their to train the afghan's is in a lot of soldiers minds taken as teaching the afghan's American values and morals. You know the ones Comey and the state department have. Other major problem is the Afghan National Police ANP act as the tax collectors at checkpoints from orders of the provinces governor. This in volves manhandling passengers of vehicles seen as robbery by foreign troops so they report and complain about such. Try swinging a gun around acting like you know better than a traffic cop giving tickets. Doesn't go down well and will make the news pretty fast. Complaints can end up with ANP being reassigned to collect taxes away from the easy life and that isn't received well by the ANP or any other type of police on this planet either. Sometimes the governors responsible for paying the ANP aren't paying the ANP. So the governor allows the tax collection to be construed to be part of their pay which leads to more shaking down of afghans driving down the road and more complaints. ANP units are typically made up of groups from different villages. One ANP unit might agree with the foreign army representatives and say oh yes those aren't ANP dressed as ANP so must be Taliban when seen doing the checkpoint robbery/tax collection routines ending in an attack on the ANP where if their are any survivors it's called a friendly fire incident. Great country with lots of resources. Only reason the resources haven't been tapped is the boys over there understand once anyone starts to build up a business mining and such be prepared to defend yourself which is impossibly when stopped at an ANP checkpoint.

Sidney waffles, ugh Sidney am I wrong that there are a lot of mineral resources that "can be" developed? Look, how can you do that without building a road or setting up infrastructure? THERE is NO national or regional co operation to be able to do that. Not with EVERY tribal leader or warlord controlling anything only as far as they can piss. They are kinda used to living in conditions tech wise just above the stone age. It works for them, .... why should they give up their lifestyle?

Look, actually we won the war. Winning the peace is another matter, kinda like ending crime in the U.S., > ain't gonna happen. Those people REALLY like to fight. Ugh, let them, they been fighting among themselves for centuries, who are we to stop their regional pastimes? WE need those dollars spent there to be spent back here rebuilding the infrastructure.
