Can't imagine how awful it must have been for the people in the elevator, trapped when the power went out, hearing all the commotion, unable to get out. What a horrible tomb.

He actually tried to claim that he tripped into a lifeboat? What a piece of Schett.

Captain of the Titanic has my respect. Unlike the Costa Concordia's captain, he literally did his duty until the end.

Lets not forget that after he reached shore and made it to a hotel he gave an interview saying that everyone had been rescued and no one died, while the ship was still sinking. Before salvage could begin, divers had to relocated endangered giant clams.

If you hear, "My Heart Will Go On" being played on any ship, head directly to a life boat. For the life of me, I don't know why they'd ever play that song on a ship at sea.

One my clients survived this shipwreck. The first appointment after was just a few weeks later. She still had healing cuts on her feet from having to climb the rocks after swimming from the ship. After she told me how she and her husband survived I swore never to get on a cruise ship. The really sad thing was the cruise line offered alot of the passengers a free (the same value though) cruise that they had a year to use. They took the offer and went on the cruise like six month later. She wrote a book about that night and the kindess and care the people of the island showed them. The thing that had always stuck with me of her story was how out of everything the thing she was most angry about was losing the hair brush she had since childhood (the woman was in her early 60s i believe) and not being able to find one she liked to replace it.

We've all been accused of manslaughter and causing a maritime accident at some point, but abandoning ship is just inexcusable

A report about the cruise ships and their passengers during the Covid-19 outbreak would also be a worthy video as their plight was largely overshadowed by the ongoing problems everywhere.

Love to see a video about the coal ship Pasha Bulker. It ran aground in Newcastle Australia in 2007 during an epic storm. The photos of it are so unbelievable that many people think they've been photoshopped. I wouldn't have believed them either if I hadn't seen it for myself.

Scapegoat maybe, but its the law of the sea, the captain has the ultimate responsibility, not some staff weenie back in the office. He failed at his job and then failed at handling the failure.

Hate that the company bought its way out of trouble.

There's something to that nobility the Titanic's captain had, he wouldn't have had a life worth living if he survived after all those people he was responsible for died.

I've heard this one before. Honestly, given the epic nature of the massive fail, this one should have been on the Blaze!

First Mate: Celine Dion is singing that Titanic song. Is that an omen?
Captain: Do you see any icebergs here?
First Mate: Yeah...it'll be fine!

The salute by sail was common in the company, since one of the most respected captains of the company, by that time in retirement, and in the whole italian civilian navy, was born on that island and was spending there his retirement.

I also know that AT LEAST 2 salvage divers died while the search for bodies was going on. Very sad and preventable disaster 😭
