Thanks for putting this up. One suggestion: write the date the event took place. Helps to put this performance in perspective along with his other swims and those of others.

To clear up the pronunciation of his name, it is pronounced Popovitch (Popowitsch) with stress on the first syllable. The i at the end of the word just softens the c from a k sound to a ch (English variations) sound. It's the same with the famous gymnast Nadia Comăneci (pron. Komanetch).
