Hi I'm late to the party and idk if you'll read this, but in my thoughts about Lore Olympus, something that I find central to the lessons in love that LO tells is the juxtaposition of Hades and Apollo in the same story with the same love interest (Persephone). For every single major red flag and problematic line or action with Apollo there is a corresponding "green flag" and/or healthy alternative.

Another point to consider is that Hades doesn't exist in the total vacuum of fantasy thereby relegating all those good and respectful behaviors that ought to be modeled and practiced to the realm of unattainable fantasy. Apollo doesn't exist solely as the modern-AU-insert-chad to be the villain and abuser. The two of them together tell the combined story of not just what to be on the look out for as a potential danger, but what to seek out in potential partners, particularly if you are healing from the actions of an abuser and manipulator like Apollo. These men exist in the same universe, in close proximity even, and people run the gambit from how much they resemble and endorse the behaviors of each of these characters. I love the way Rachel (creator of LO) shows that while anyone deserves a Hades, there are plenty of Apollos out there who pose legitimate threats and can cause harm, but don't detract from the ability to find healthy love in the end.

Just wrote a short essay that was completely unnecessary, but yeah man I really like this comic.

'Love makes you do crazy thing' seems like an excuse for bad things you do in the name love or that person. Also, sacrificing that person's happiness for yours. Yet, what if it meant the other way around, I'd feel bad for this person who sacrificed their own happiness for their loved one to find true happiness. At that point, it's no longer about them and their wants.

one webtoon I've sadly sat down to read was The Fate, a furry comic about a mentally unstable 18 year old student and his teacher, who finds every opportunity to harass him and get his student to sleep with him.
the relationship is presented as this cutesy thing that the audience should support but it's so uncomfortable and creepy! the teacher stomps on boundaries and pushes his way into his student's life/circle. he touches the student without permission and sometimes he does it in front of other people! he takes advantage of the fact that his student just came out of a toxic relationship and his mental wellness. but it's ok because the teacher 'loves' his student (and he's hot according to furry standards).
one of the worst things he did was lock his student in his home, in hopes that he'll stay and get into his bed. all the while the student is telling him not to touch him and let him out, edging on a panic attack. and then the next chapter it is never acknowledged or played off as the student 'playing hard to get' and fuel for the sexual tension between the two.
there literally is NO LOVE between the two. this 'relationship' seriously began because the student ignored his teacher, and the teacher got pissed and had a wet dream about his student the following day. from there on the teacher decided that he must have him!
I couldn't finish this series without it triggering some flashbacks.

I would recommend you cover this comic but someone did and got false copyright strike by the unstable author who adamantly defends this atrocious behavior.

i dont think LO tackles toxic love well because it frames Hades relationship with persephone as good which it is not. they trauma bond. there is a sick age gap and persephone is written as super innocent with no agency and hades is always sexualizing her when she herself is not trying to be sexual. her mother is framed as overbearing when she is just concerned for her daughter who has powers she doesnt yet know how to control that put her at huge risk. and Hades and Persephone dont actually know each other but they are in love? nah he is in lust and she is just playing into the misogynistic trope of a girl can fix all the broken parts of a man child. it promotes a lot of unhealthy dynamics just like twilight and 50 shades.

What’s more about Toxic Love in Lore Olympus are the people in the middle - Artemis is Apollo’s sister and Persephone’s friend, but despite Persephone’s feelings and the “No men in our house” She saw Apollo, at first, as a brother and when Persephone confronted her little by little, she’s starting to realize.

Meanwhile, Hecate and everyone else hounded Minthe when she abused Hades by comparing him to Kronos, his one fear. They know what they are and their relationship, and they care about a god like Hades to pull away a River Nymph because of he’s been through a lot.

Eros and Hera, meanwhile, know about Apollo and Persephone and even though they’re a small group, they are willingly to protect Persephone.

It shows that people in the middle are depending on which side based on their relationship and knowledge - Artemis didn’t know bc Persephone knows how much she cares about Apollo, but Eros and Hera knew and they don’t want Apollo in her life. Then there are people like Thetis and Thanatos who are in Minthe’s side (Thanatos wanted the same special treatment while Thetis wanted to manipulate Minthe and she only cares about what SHE wants) but Thanatos began to realize the toxicity.

it’s Lust

Most of toxic love is lust

There is a difference between Lust and Love.
And I'm sure what they (the character in this video)feel is Lust not love

It's almost impossible to avoid these when you're trying to find a webtoon within the genre of romance. No matter the orientation, whether it be GxB, BxB, or GxG, it's easy to find them especially within r18 comics. And when you do find one that's a healthy or normal relationship, either you've struck gold or that story is going to be boring/complicated as hell.

One webtoon that deals with toxic love and relationships is Your Throne. Especially the relationship between Psyche and Eros. It almost perfectly shows how hard it is to fight your abuser, go against them or break up with them. How even with all that they’ve done, you still love them, because you used to love them so much and still can’t believe the person they’ve become/the side they now show to you. Their relationship is never portrayed as super romantic or healthy and as I already said, it shows the problems instead. One of them being the possessiveness Eros has over Psyche and how he doesn’t love her, but rather her ‘gift’

how to tell if a webtoon is bad:
1, the main character (or love interest) is uncomfortable about the love interest (or mc) actions and the comic plays it off as a joke
2, main character says “eye candy” within the first few episodes of the comic
3, the comic has an unnecessary arc about the mc and love interest being childhood friends
4, love interest being cold to mc is seen as a “closeted romantic”
5, mc (sometimes s3xually) harasses love interest and its portrayed as “normal” or “necessary for romantic development”
6, other sh1t thats illegal in almost every country

"I don't feel like being seen in public with you today. I don't feel like being seen with you in general. All the suits in the world and you still stinks of death"

Holy shit man, I had planned an entire chapter to write about my OC and it would be about a relationship of this exact same dynamic, the entire point of the chapter would be to show why said character has so much trouble bonding with people, and why he's so selfless, why he seems no value in his own life and only live for the others, needless to say, he is a really toxic friend that will make you feel terrible for how much he does not care about his life

Nice to meet you by wishroomness handles, toxic love, pretty well. They make it known that these people are human and they make mistakes. They flesh out their characters very well so nothing is ever black and white but grey leaving it to your interpretation. You don't have to forgive the characters, but you can, there is always room for improvement. This is probably why it's one of my favourite webtoons.

Anyways I love your videos Shy Chef! Keep them coming :)

Admittedly I haven’t read Nice To Meet You, but from what you portrayed of the story here, I feel it’s wrong to imply that one shouldn’t vilify Alex. Or to imply that doing so is a simple, easy, or foolish way of viewing his actions. After all, even though Alex didn’t rape her, what he did was sexual assault. She didn’t consent to it and yet he did so regardless. And I don’t think it’s inherently wrong to say that sexual assault moves a character past the moral event horizon, thus making them irredeemable in the eyes of the viewer.

And although I don’t have a problem with her forgiving Alex in the story(after all forgiveness should always be the victims choice), I think it’s unrealistic to expect the audience or the victim in the story to always “try to see the perpetrator as a human.” I simply don’t agree with the premise that sexual assault is a “mistake” that any normal “good person “ would make.

Anyways sorry that this is kinda long! And I hope this wasn’t to harsh, it’s not my intention to rag on the video! I think this video made a lot of good points and I’m excited to watch more video from this channel. I just felt like sharing my opinion on some aspects of it.

"Love makes you do crazy things".

True sometimes. It makes you sacrifice yourself for or protect the other and take leaps for opportunities.

Usually, the other crazy things are fueled by jealousy, anger, bitterness, sadness, etc., not directly the love itself.

Hey Shy Chef, I have a theory about John's ability.
So, a lot of people are questioning how his ability works, and why his level doesn't go up when he gathers abilities. So, I went back and read the whole series from Episode 56. And, when I saw his ability, things for me suddenly clicked. For other people in the world, your ability works on how well it does, and how strong it actually is. But, I saw when during the Blyke fight around Episode 200 or so, I thought, 'If John's ability copies other people's, then you can't judge his exact his ability.' But, when I started thinking, I thought of one thing that he can do. Improve ability performance in every point he can do and use. So, I thought, 'Maybe John's ability doesn't have to do with how strong his level is based off other abilities, it's how well he can manipulate the abilities he's holding. His abilities don't fluctuate his actual level, as he wasn't born with those abilities.' So, his ability works based off the abilities he chooses. If he grabs a weaker ability (like needles) he's not going to be able to do much, and he'll still have his level. Meanwhile, if he had an ability, say, Zeke's. He'd be super tough. He can bend the ability of his choices available, so his ability is a lot unlike the others. His works based off what he has to offer, the others work with the ability levels supposedly given to them. Now, this may have been covered already, but I'd thought about sharing it with you since you make pretty cool unOrdinary videos. So, if you want to use a video off this, then go ahead! I appreciate you reading this. Have a good day!

Sweet home, solo leveling, everything is fine, and I don't know the name of it but it had a bunch of kids being chased by weird zombie things. Those are The only webtoon comics that I've seen ads for that looks like they have a good story
