Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer moved Monday to take up a bipartisan tax package that includes an expansion of the Child Tax Credit and key business provisions, including some favored by energy companies.

The chamber will take its first procedural vote on the legislation, H.R. 7024, later this week. Given Republican opposition to the bill in the Senate, it is likely to be a symbolic vote designed to put GOP members on the spot.
