She could have lived a fulfilling life, but the stigma of being anything less than "normal" pushed her parents to rob her of that. I'm glad society is progressing in a better direction nowadays, god bless her soul.

What pisses me off the most is that even though her parents didn’t want to be associated with Rosemary and distanced themselves from her because she wasn’t “perfect”, they still felt the need to try “fix” her. They cared more about her image than her mental well being. What pieces of worthless shit!

she was a pretty charismatic woman and it’s so said to see people shut her away from the world, i honestly wish that her father lived his entire life feeling guilty about what she did to her

“She died not knowing why her family abandoned her” My heart, bless her soul

This is just inhuman, I feel so bad for anyone who had to go through this. May they rest peacefully.

Think of how amazing her life could’ve been if that stupid nurse hadn’t completely screwed her over. Then her father valuing their reputation over her life. What terrible people.

I took care of a woman who had had a lobotomy and experimental brain surgery. She was in her late 90's and had been institutionalized since she was a rebellious 14 year old...it was so sad. She had even had a child while being institutionalized...which means, you know. The poor woman never got to have a real life, just because she was a normal teenager who rebelled

You’ve gotta be a special kind of genius to think “Yeah let’s push the baby back”

She is honestly one of the people who stick into my head. Her father lied and kept her away even from even her family for his own selfish reasons. It's hard to deal with that level of injustice, stealing someone's life away from them. What gives anyone the right? What gives anyone the power over anyone like that.

Holy shit. This woman died 3 days before I was born. I hope she’s in a better place.

Her sister Eunice was her only regular visitor, who loved her dearly.
Eunice later went on to champion the Special Olympics

I can’t get over the fact that the nurse DELAYED Rosemary’s birth for two whole hours, and nobody in her family thought that was a bad thing to do.

Edit: Everyone failed her in life, and I’m astonished at how horrible her family was to have her get a lobotomy.

The "Kennedy Curse" is Rosemary taking them all down one by one.

The stigma against mentally ill or disabled people is one of the most disgusting things about our society. I hope that Rosemary found peace at last after her lifetime of suffering.

I get that this was a normal procedure but I feel disgusted thinking about how people would do this to their child, siblings, distant family. I'm sure having had epileptic seizures affects my opinion since if I had lived then it would be possible that I would have suffered a similar fate. Psychological diseases (classified as such at the time) were treated so horribly and like in Rosemary's case made it ever worse than without treatment.
Glad she got to see family before she passed.

I heard about Rosemary in my High School Psychology. It's such a sad story to read/listen to. Rosemary's situation could of been prevented if the nurse didn't try and stall the birth. But at least she was the reason the paralympics began

Edit: The paralympic thing is what my teacher told the class
Edit 2: So it wasn't the paralympics, but special Olympics. Thanks to her sister Eunice Kennedy

Just started and holy shit this is gonna be good. “Those who go through with it, are left speechless.”
Edit: I normally don’t like morbid reality but I have recently started to love it, can’t wait to see more!

The nurse: "hmm, let me stop a baby from being born and also slowly suffocate them for 2 hours, nothing bad will happen at all"

it's extremely unfortunate that back then people didn't understand the concept of mental disability, and many lives were ruined because of this. i'm happy though that Rosemary is in a better place, and that the world has evolved from this
