Here in UK the varieties of Listerine are limited. You can't get the original yellow which is what ReedJuvinate recommend. So I'm using 41.4% gin. Seems to work great, and you get a nice bonus when you change reeds.

I use exactly the same box, but I put a small piece of sponge, soaked in listerine, in the lid of the box.
And I use Boston Sax Shop reeds now. Switched about 2 weeks ago. And yes, the hype is real.

I can make an ice cream stick sound just by sanding it and putting some vaseline over it after playing. My reed case is the classic 4 reed by Rico and I rotate them. They last well for a year. No fuzz, no liquids, no molds.

I saw the chart on the Boston Sax page. How hard are they relatively?I use Rico Orange box, 2.5...would a 2.5 BSS be similar?or harder? Thanks for any help, great videos man, thanks for the time you put in.

BSS reeds are definitely worth the hype ... go 'Buy A Box Of Boston Sax Shop Reeds' and use the Witz case, you won't regret it.

I have tried your method with listerine and my reeds play stuffy and dull. I wish it would work because it does save time and the back of the reed does not warp.

Hi ! Incredible channel, really lots of interesting subjects. Thank you very much !
I just have a question about the method you are explaining. You let your reeds soak in the mouthwash until it evaporates ? Because you fill the box really a lot (sorry for my non english speaking haha). I'm wondering how it don't spoil reeds to stay all the time in this liquid. But i don't know anything about how to preserve reeds so it's a real question. I will try this i think ! Seems interesting.

You earned a thumbs up for the Kenny G/Dave Pollack moment alone.

I actually bought the small one for alto from your link and it's too narrow to store the reeds like you do. They would need to be stored sideways. I guess I need to order a bigger one

So, I got one of these, water/mouthwash....I find the reeds feel ready heavy, dull and a little flat when so wet.Might be too much water...I’ll experiment with less water.

I primarily use Legere Signature synthetics, but I store my cane reeds in an airtight box with a 72 per cent RH Boveda two-way humidity control pack. We're definitely not lacking for moisture here in the Southeast:) Still, this method looks interesting, and I'd be willing to give it a try. I'm curious about the Boston Sax Shop reeds, as well. Thanks, Chris!

2 items I do differently.... I put the reeds tip down, bottom side facing out because I label the reeds on the bottom back side and want to be able to know which one I’m picking, especially on the job.

Second, I prefer vodka over mouthwash. Just my personal preference. 60/40 vodka to water mixture works for me.

You can do what you want, but I believe that reeds should be stored dry. This is how to get moldy reeds over time. The alcohol should stop it from getting to the black mold stage however.

Red or pink mouthwash might make for marketing a new lipstick effect. =D
