This video will show you how to do a basic residential concrete floor estimate. When I bid a concrete job for a client, I am responsible for estimating the cost of materials and labor. This video will show you how I figure the cost of my materials per square foot and how I add that to my labor rate for a final estimate.

I like how you explain even the basic stuff when you do your videos, even for seasoned contractors, it's never bad to review, thanks for all your hard work and the valuable info!

These are comparable skills needed in whatever discipline of trade. I call this for your trade, take off skills for electrical basics. Young guys (apprentices) want to automation and the hi-tech stuff. Power, lighting, basic diagrams they don't want! They want to jump to the engineer' s level without the apprentice experience. Man these skills are critical for any discipline in the form the basics take. ie concrete take off and calculation skills for your trade, electrical diagrams for us etc. I think you get the concept and communicate it so well!! Wow thanks for this insightful look into this important issue!!

In my head I estimated 2500-2600 sq ft and 33 yards to pour before you calculated. Just starting my own tiny concrete business. Starting to feel more confident! Thanks for all these videos!

Great video Mike! I knew of 3 different formulas to order concrete, but I have to say I haven't heard that one. Just dividing it by 81 if its 4 inch, 60 if its 6 id assume. Seems like the easiest way! I like to do it at least 2 ways, but now it'll be 3 ways haha thanks buddy.

Great video Mike! I was surprised when you said 1 yard of concrete cost $125 a yard. Here in West Virginia you have Central charging $220 a yard.

been subscribed for a couple weeks now, and this is where I struggle. I'm talking with some friends that have businesses in other areas of my state but getting info from people like you that have been in the game a lot longer is awesome too.

Thanks Mike I love your show I’m a mechanic and I work on concrete equipment it’s nice to know the other side of the business in the field besides your experience and wisdom help me to install my first slab to perfection, thanks… It’s the beauty of YouTube and sharing information, wish I would’ve had this stuff 20 years ago anyway I was curious about what goes under concrete in the way of foam and vapor barriers maybe you can get into it in the future episode… Keep on rockin…

Mike. I think what your doing for folks is great. A lot of guys don’t care to help others. I’ve been doing concrete with my mom and dad for 20 plus years and they don’t care to help anyone. I’m not like that at all. Love what your doing to help others get a jump start in concrete. For some of us it’s in our blood. The others just don’t know better!!🤣🤣🤣. Thanks Mike. Always watching and supporting.

Mike, you are truly the man bro.. really appreciate you sharing the knowledge. Although I’m not a contractor but I find the craft of concrete building so interesting. I look at all you and your teams projects, truly amazing work. Don’t stop what you do. Lenny from Maryland..

Mike, just curious. What is your markup to cover your overhead and profit. I found out the hard way last year I wasn't charging enough for my work, not saying your doing that. Then I found a perfect book that taught me that I wasn't charging near enough to cover my overhead, let alone make a profit. Just curious that's all. Hope to here from you

A friend of mine got a call from a scabby contractor, they wanted a bid on a whole lot of concrete steps.
My buddy said “ya know how I figured it?”
I guessed that he ciphered it up and added 30%.
He said “nope, I figured it up and DOUBLED IT!!!”
They took the bid and he actually got paid....after several calls to their bank to see if there was enough funds to cover the check.

Hey mike I just recently started watching your videos and I love watching them. I’m still young but I’m 23 and I’ll be 24 this year I have been pouring concrete since I was 13. I’m looking to try and go out on my own within the next year or so. I just love this kind of work and really don’t want to be doing anything else. I’ve worked a lot of residential and commercial concrete work. But one question I have is how do you know what kind of concrete mix to order for each pour. I’ve worked this a lot but I have never actually made a order for concrete myself. Really that’s about the only thing I’m not a 100% sure of. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Good stuff Mike.
Have done some work for my own place.
Not planning to go into the biz but am certainly more confident pouring my own garage and car ports. Thanks.
