Richmond Urban Dance is a dance company focusing only on street-style dancing.

We take the essence and culture of urban dance, and bring it into the studio to create new platforms to showcase this raw art form of dance.

Entertainment is the most powerful influence in today’s culture, with hip-hop being the most prominent among our youth. At Richmond Urban Dance, we strive to use that power to make a positive impact by creating tasteful, yet highly entertaining, skillful and enticing works. The history and culture of hip-hop is hard, rough, and untrained. While urban dance is one of the most popular among youth, there has been almost a non-existent opportunity for formal training. Some artists view street dancing as entertainment alone, but not art; however, art is a form of expression of any kind and street dance is nothing more than a form of expression.

At Richmond Urban Dance, we are committed to making a difference not only in the lives of our faculty and dancers, but in the lives of our audiences as well. We are mission-driven with a goal to inspire and equip as well as entertain. This Richmond dance studio believes opportunities should be created, not waited upon. The beat of the street is the heart of our dance.

We don’t just teach movement, we ARE a movement.
