Mass resignations at Twitter as employees reject Musk's demand for 'hardcore' work l GMA

In an email to staff on Wednesday, new owner Elon Musk said employees who refuse to work "long hours at high intensity" and be "hardcore" will receive three months of severance.

Some people here seem to think that not wanting to be treated rudely and disrespectufully is the same as not wanting to work hard.
I am sure each and every one of those people who quit would put in the extra work and effort if the situation required it and if their managers asked them to do it in the correct way.
What Musk did was a prick move which demonstrated power, but it was not a move that earned him authority - it just tented to his ego.
And he is getting what he deserves for it. Real leaders know how to inspire people and their employees would work hard without being given ultimatums.
That being said, of course employees should also be aware that work can sometimes require more effort and it's your duty to make the effort if you expect to be treated respectufully in return.

too many people are dishonest with themselves and completely overrate their value. they always find out when their company gets bought out. new owners do this all the time. they know who the key personnel are and talk to them in advance of moves like this. plus he brought 50 of the worlds best engineers from tesla two weeks ago. he could probably run the tech with these easy.

I think Twitter died last night: I woke up early, about 3am local time, and got online... I saw three live streams coming from people in the street in front of the Twitter building, there was a small crowd in the middle of the night. In the live stream I log on there were "salute emojis" coming every few second from Twitter employees resigning. I saw the message that the Twitter headquarters building was locked up and keycard access was denied. And they had projector displaying text messages on the front of the building. This was so interesting that I watched for a couple of hours... I think Twitter died last night.

I think everyone’s too disconnected from Elon. Everyone expects Elon to be understanding. Imo, Elon needs people who can bridge the people and him.
