Age old proverb: Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you.

Perhaps Boeing can save costs by cutting corners in manufacture and safety.

As someone who works for a company making multiple parts for Boeing 787 program, I can say the Tariffs are already having an effect. We ship the parts from the UK to the USA and also to Safran in Canada for integration on the front landing gear. Everything to the USA is on hold and has been for over a week and we don't know how long this is going to last. A good part of what we ship is the Nose wheel steering unit (the hydraulic unit that is fixed onto the leg). We also supply new units into the USA for the MRO, Maintenence, Repair and Overhaul market. So we may start affecting the maintenance of planes already in service. This is an absolute nightmare. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Great video as always, keep covering the Tariffs impact on aviation as this needs to be well known to all, keep it up.

I’m really glad that you explained the lack of manufacturing infrastructure and length of time it would take for manufacturing in America to come to fruition!

In addition, Boeing is seriously screwed now that China is no longer allowing it's commercial airliners and cargo operators to purchase from Boeing.

Even if tariffs are cancelled and reverted to 1st January this year the loss of confidence in US is so great that huge damage has allready been done for medium & long term.

The tariff plan will evidently lead to high inflation, the high inflation is a significant reason why most retirees have sleepless nights. The increase in prices of everyday items puts them at risk of running out of money. As prices rise, the amount of money retirees can withdraw from their retirement savings also increases

I was recently laid off from a manufacturing-adjacent job I've held for 15 years. Most people don't realize that manufacturing companies here almost always import their materials from other countries. They frequently have to order parts from different countries that they use to assemble the final product here (like planes mentioned in this video), as well. The downstream effects will be huge. And since they'll be passing along increased costs to customers and laying off employees, it'll ramp up fairly quickly.

I think it is worth noticing how the comments show that your viewers are informed and intelligent people, and it is not a coincidence since you spread knowledge with pure class. Thanks Petter&Team

The worst part of it? - Much of this goes for just about any huge industry as well to a lesser or greater extent. Which is exactly why these tariffs see the markets react as they have done.

10:26 Deltas CEO already said they won't take delivery from Airbus if they have to pax Tariffs.
Airbus said they will just deliver to other customers first then.

One aspect of the issue that has not been addressed is the incredible bureaucracy that will result from differentiated taxation, depending on the exporting country, of everything that enters the USA. Customs will have to identify each item, each package, invoice, etc., and the consignees will have to wait and see. Recipients are likely to have to wait while the piles pile up in customs offices.

It turns out that electing a malignant narcissist who is also an incompetent “businessman” who can’t cut a deal without acting like a bully wasn’t the best of ideas…

Who would know that the clearest and finest explanation for tariffs would come from a non-American, non-economist. Kudos to Mentor!

No shortcuts to solving complex problems. I wish people were capable of understanding this.

It can't be overstated how much irreversible damage is already done. Even if everything goes back to normal, including a new US president, who's going to trust the country not to elect a clown in 4 years?
