*Carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected to have caused the deaths of four SANDF soldiers. They were found early on Saturday in a container structure that was being used as a guardhouse. The soldiers were deployed to combat illegal mining in in Orkney in the North West

*Heavy rains and strong winds are expected to lash the Western Cape for the rest of the week.
A cold front made made landfall at the weekend, causing flooding and the displacement of residents.

*In international news, protestors clashed with riot police in Paris last night after the first results of the second round of France's parliamentary election were announced. The second round of voting saw the New Popular Front unexpectedly take the top spot from the right-wing National Rally, which dominated the first round.
