Love the 5 speed upgrade. Much better drivability.

With the VIN (from the HOC website), you win: 1 for Chevrolet, 38 for Chevelle SS 396, 37 for two door Sport Coupe, 8 for 1968 model year, A for Atlanta, GA (Lakewood Heights), assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Lakewood Heights plant closed in 1990 and the last car produced there was a "square body" Caprice which was given away to an employee.

With the tag, you can brag: ST68 for 1968 model year, 13837 for Chevrolet (1) Chevelle SS 396 (38), two door Sport Coupe (37), ATL for Atlanta, GA assembly, 766 for Black interior trim, G-T for paint which is Ash Gold lower exterior paint and T for Palomino Ivory upper exterior paint, and 07A for the first week of July 1968 production.

Looking back to 1974. The biggest mistake of my life was selling my 68 SS 396 Chevelle. Forest green metallic with a black vinyl roof. 4 speed & 4.88 gears set up for street racing in Warren Ohio. 😢 And trust me I raced it on Market street many times. 👍

I've gotta get a classic car😢
This is perfect. Big block, manual transmission, crank windows, vent windows, non A/C, man, this is pretty much what I would've ordered if i had bought this new. The only thing I can think of that I would've ordered differently is the paint. I would've ordered white. Love white muscle cars. And probably radio delete. Otherwise it's exactly what I want

Are the 5-spoke rims on the '68 Chevelle original kit? According to my thinking, the '68 Chevelle came only with the 15" rally rims, and in '69 Chevelle introduced the 5 spoke rims, elimination of the black trim/chrome strip on the bottom rockers and revised black-out grill.

69 COPO yenko and ss are the most beautiful chevelle in my opinion the 70 is uglier and went and copied their poncho brethren and missed the mark
