The core of every VPN is encryption. Both of these VPNs are solid when it comes to it, offering two types of algorithms, which are unlikely to get cracked any time soon.

When it comes to privacy, NordVPN and ExpressVPN both claim to have a no-logs policy. That alone wouldn’t be so reassuring, but they have gone through third-party security audits, so their claims are legit. Additionally, they have RAM-only servers that wipe their data with every restart, and their jurisdiction is also not a problem. Both are in privacy-friendly zones. NordVPN in Panama, and ExpressVPN in the British Virgin Islands.

🏎️ ExpressVPN vs NordVPN performance comparison

I’ve done my own tests to compare performance. To make it fair, for both - NordVPN and ExpressVPN, I used their fastest protocols and tested speeds in 3 different locations. My baseline is around 300Mbps, which is more than enough for a smooth performance.

First, I connected to a nearby server with NordVPN. The numbers went down very slightly, but such a small change realistically doesn’t affect anything. ExpressVPN lost a little bit more speed when connecting to a nearby server, but I was still happy with the result.

📺 Which is better for Streaming?

ExpressVPN worked better overall. It had less troubleshooting and gave access to more content. NordVPN also accessed foreign libraries, however, I had to change the server a couple of times and clear the cache. In terms of performance though, it was smooth, I didn’t encounter any buffering when connected to either of the VPNs. So overall, for streaming, ExpressVPN takes a slight edge in my eyes. I had smoother experience using it, and they can access the most foreign libraries than any other VPN that I’ve tried.

🔎 Do they have all of the essential features?

When it comes to essentials, ExpressVPN covers all of them. There’s a kill switch called Network Lock that protects me from IP leaks. It stops all internet traffic if I experience connection issues. There’s also an obfuscation feature, which helps to access the internet where it might be restricted. And it does have a split tunneling on Windows, older MacOS, and Android apps. It gives an option to select which apps go through the VPN connection and which don’t. NordVPN also covers all these essentials. I tested their kill switch and it worked as it should. It also has a split tunneling feature, as well as obfuscation.

Final thoughts ➡️

To sum things up, overall, NordVPN is the winner in this one. It has better performance, is more affordable, and has waaay more features. While ExpressVPN is not a bad choice for streaming and the best choice if you need a router VPN setup. However, it comes with a price.

Neither. The only good VPN is a self hosted one. Proton I like bc the swiss have good laws, not perfect but damn better than the states or most of EU even, though they seem better than the states. Idk, I set up my own, and even then, just be safe people.
