Viewer Request! How to connect to your 3D Printer from your PC!
** FEB 1, 2022 - UPDATE SEE BELOW **

The *biggest problem* I see is people do not have an actual USB Data Cable! Many charging cords are not pinned/wired up to work correctly! Here's some links for USB Data Cables in case you need one!

Original Description:
A few days ago a viewer commented that they were new to 3D printing and did not know how to connect their PC to their 3D Printer to do advanced functions! They asked for help...here it is! Here's a few ways you can communicate with your 3D Printer via USB on your PC! I go over a few ways you can do this with various software! For free, there is Pronterface! Then, if you have purchased Simplify3D, you can use the Machine Control Panel! And...if you have been thinking about using Octoprint with a Raspberry Pi someday, it has some nice tools as well! I go over the settings for the USB connection. I do not have a Mac computer...this is all done on my Windows 10 computer!

Applications used in this video...

Pronterface

Simplify3D

Octoprint

I’m only 3 minutes into this and LOVE the way you’re explaining things! I’ve got a really splotchy background in electronics and I’m so overwhelmed with my first printer because I’m refurbishing it using a laptop I refurbished, all slightly out of my comfort zone. This video will help me get back on the project and have my printer up and running

I wish people that make these videos would understand one thing. Some people are frustrated and want quick info we don’t have time to listen to everyone’s life story

Thanks! You saved me hours. OH, so that's why Cura won't print. I have W7 -32 and the versions of CUra that let you plug into the printer require 64 bit. Damn, I'm out of luck till I quit being such a cheap sake and get a more modern computer. Thank you for the great, helpful, well presented information. Well done my friend.

Hi, thanks for the info, but it would be nice to see how you actually print something from my computer so I could see what it does.

I had watched Chuck Hellebuyck's videos on assembling, tweaking, n upgrading the ebay CTC printer...which I have. I am also a nooby noob noob noobing my nooby way into this hobby. So, I got in touch with Chuck and asked him how I could go about running the CTC without having to use an SD card and the printer's accompanying LCD, what software'd be necessary, etc. [I did mention that I'm a noob, right? OK.]
He was kind enough to link me to this video. Thanks!

Thank you for showing me that my Simplify3D had a print control panel! My printer panel was starting to go out on my printer. Some times it worked and I almost that I threw in the towel and bought a new panel. But you saved me for a little while. Panel not a necessity anymore. So, thank you so much!

I actually use cura all the time and it has a pronterface type controller. I've been using an older version of cura, 15.4 I think, and it has that option to manually control my printrbot.

Hello I got all the info for running the print with your video here but my problem is probably super -simple but when I connect my little micro-USB cable into my Ender 5 PRO and connect It to my Laptops USB-port Simplify3D or any other software can NOT find the port. Do I need some special cable between them or how do I tried a WiFi-box from Creality too ( wich works sadly) and borrowed that cable ...

i know that most likely i wont get an answer but ive wasted my time before. i just installed the new 32 bit board in my ender 3 3d printer to update the 8 bit board. its the btt skr mini 2.0 and now cura cant see the printer and i can only print from sd card. and i also nitice the fan on the right side of my extruder runs all the time when it didnt before.
