How I found out I have a rare eye condition, and you might as well. It’s called visual snow, and for me it really doesn’t do all too much UNLESS ITS DARK. THEN EVERYTHING LOOKS SCARY AND I RUN INTO THINGS.

"Tell me why my room looks like an analogue horror video at night"

That's why I can't sleep at night🥲

My visual snow gets really intense if I'm sleep deprived or dehydrated! It's kinda cool having an IRL thirst and sleep meter

when i have fevers and try to sleep, some weird shit happens. i fall into a state where im awake, but i hear voices (not creepy voices, just casual conversations) and im fully aware of what those conversations mean, as well as being aware that im awake

as a fellow VSS haver, when I found out it was wild. it explained so many symptoms I have like the white dots in the sky, light sensitivity, floaters, and of course the static. however, I also found out there's a whole host of mental conditions vss can cause, like depression, anxiety and disassociative thoughts. personally I don't think it's fair that my vision issue also affects my mental health.

Hey I have that too! :D
It makes me basically blind in the dark
And combined with my hallucinations it makes the feeling of being in an analogue horror game even more authentic

I have that condition too and it’s rly bad for me. Literally everything just mingles together and I can’t even see the outlines of items in my bedroom, even if they’re completely different colours. It’s why i have a night light lmao

Edit: For some ppl replying, this happens for me in the night and in the day. This isn’t something that happens everyone, so if you’re saying so maybe look it up for some examples to see if u have it too. It’s not as rare as google implies, it’s actually a bit more common—especially for those with eye conditions running in the family (like glasses and stuff). It varies for others in different levels, which is why some people only notice it at night due to the lack of light. To me, plain walls look like popcorn ceiling almost, but with smaller, staticky moving bits. I tend to see images and stuff in em too, and it messes with my reading and focus due to all the wiggling around 💀

I got diagnosed with it recently and the realization that it isn’t normal was mindblowing

Interesting. I've noticed the effect but was told "stop watching too much TV". I was not diagnosed with the condition, but I assume what I oerceive is the quantum nature of light and how surfaces are not actually evenly lit up. Out brains denoise the image, but I still can notice that I simply get less hits per second in my eyes in the dark.

I actually have visual snow syndrome too, and my mom says

I know what you mean! Apparently I can't stop worrying about it. If you're in a dark room with your eyes closed, after a while, does anyone else see smaller, darker bits in the shape of puzzle pieces, or is it just me?
