If you don't want it to stop randomly and the fact that it looks confused is because you are jumping around the front of the car, and it is trying to guess what you are doing... To get a better result don't stand in front of it and if you do just stand still.

I used auto park twice last year and it worked perfectly parking btween two cars in a busy lot. Then it parallel parked and it was just ok. kinda far from the curb.

The main focus of the Self Driving team at Tesla has been on FSD. Autopark and smart summon havent been updated in a long time and are super outdated.

Definitely true about the lines to park. FSD beta doesn’t work if there are no lines as well. By the what kind of rims & tire size? Looks great!

Auto parking only works when the parking garage is full with cars. I’ve seen it work perfectly in person when I rode in a tesla model s for the first time.
